RIGHT SIDE
Today I went and met with Dr. Ripplinger to get the COMPLETE game plan for Paige's mouth and sign financial stuff, sad when you have to finance a mouth Haha!! The treatment time is going to be 2 YEARS, we are going to have to see if we can extend for a couple of months, praying really HARD the military will go for it!!
Sitting in that chair and looking and listening to the doctor it just felt like DEJE VU, she completly has MY genetics, poor kid!! Her molds, which I posted, are IDENTICAL to what mine looked like, I am trying to locate mine now for comparison!! The first step is NOT going to be braces, which I find wierd, b/c they are going to do the HEADGEAR FIRST!!! I thought you had to have braces to wear headgear but aparently NOT. When we originally spoke she said there were several options but when I met with her today, and after she fully reviewed Paige's xrays etc., she said headgear was going to be the BEST option :-(....I know I know, it will give her thicker skin...
She goes in for the first of 3 appointments for the headgear JUNE 10, and she said it will take 5 min. She will then go back June 16 and it will take one hour and then the 23 she has another 5 min. appointment. They will also be placing a lingualbow on the bottom teeth that will push them forward and hold spaces when her baby teeth fall out. She needs 6mm more of space, 3mm on each side of her lower jaw.
She will have both the lower and upper jaw corrected; upper jaw pushed back, lower jaw pulled out. Because of her bite she has adjusted her mouth to chew food, which caused her jaw to be offset and that will have to be fixed as well, mine did too...Wierd the things we do to our body and not even realize it b/c we are in SURVIVAL mode lol...
So as you can see, she has a very LONG road ahead and she is sooo NOT excited like I am...She is really nervous but I keep encouraging her that it is BEST to do this now and not have to go through the surgery when she is a teenager. Today when I showed her the molds, her response "man my teeth are really MESSED up mom" That is what I LOVE about Paige, she does not focus on the outer stuff, obviously, b/c she didn't realize how crooked they really were...So if you think about it, say a little prayer for Paiger in the next few weeks, teeth work can be a little painful...I also want her nerves to be settled and that she just have peace about the process and trust that this is BEST for her. Pray that the headgear is not to "traumatizing" lol...I really don't think it will be b/c she is so easy going about most things...Only time will tell.......Much luv......

I'll be praying for her. I remember the headgear, although I only had to wear it at night. Fun times. :)
